Black Swallowtail Butterfly Magnet

$5.00

Decorate magnetic surfaces with this Black Swallowtail Butterfly Magnet!

They are strong magnets with great sticking power with a pull strength of 65 pounds per square foot — perfect for putting on your car or holding up papers on your fridge!  They are thin and flexible.

They are waterproof, but not UV protected, which can result in the color fading over time if frequently exposed to direct sunlight. Extreme cold and heat will also cause the magnet to degrade faster.

Natural History Info: The Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) is found in most of the U.S., and are beautiful pollinators.  They often lay their eggs on plants in the Carrot family (Apiaceae) such as Queen Anne’s Lace, Poison  Hemlock, and common herbs in our home gardens like dill, fennel, carrots, parsley, and celery. The caterpillars look quite similar to Monarch caterpillars, but their stripes are broken up into dots rather than solid lines like the Monarchs.
