Specializing in equine portraits in oil and acrylic on canvas

Commissions

I would love to paint your horse!

My paintings capture the quiet power of horses - their grace, elegance, and unique personalities. I primarily work in oil and acrylic on canvas, but am happy to work in other mediums on request! I also accept requests for other subjects including wildlife, landscapes, and pets.

Please read the following information about the types of commissions I offer, the process for fulfilling a commission request, pricing, and terms & conditions.

When you’re ready to get started, fill out the Commission Request Form below. Thank you!

    • Oil or Acrylic on canvas

    • Mixed media on paper (e.g. watercolor, colored pencil, pen, etc.)

    • Pencil drawings

    • Custom-painted Breyer horse models (Traditional or Classic series)

    • Digital illustration (created using Procreate, not AI)

  • Commission prices are determined from 2 main components: materials/size + complexity of design

    1. Materials/size: This part of the price covers the cost of the canvas, paints, and other supplies used to create the artwork.  For example, digital paintings and pencil sketches are lower cost than oil paintings on canvas.

    2. Complexity of design: Generally, the more subjects in the artwork, the more challenging the piece is to create.  Requests that involve adding/changing elements from the reference image, or elements rendered with high levels of detail, also involve additional challenge and complexity.

See base prices for equine portraits in oil/acrylic on canvas in the Base Prices chart.

    1. Submit a Request: Use the form below to submit your commission request.  Please be as specific as possible about your vision for the piece!

    2. Confirmation & Discussion: After I review your request, I will contact you via email to confirm and discuss the details of the project including the design, materials, timeline, and price. If needed, we may schedule a phone or video call for further discussion.

    3. Concept Sketches: Based on our agreements on the design and cost of the project, I will create concept sketches and give you the opportunity to suggest modifications before I start the artwork.

    4. Delivery Date & 50% Deposit: Once you approve the concept sketches, we will set a delivery date and method that works for both of our schedules.  Any commission requests with a turn-around time of 3 weeks or less will be subject to an additional rush fee.  A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required before I begin work on the piece.

    5. Artwork Creation: Process photos may be sent to you upon request. Keep in mind that some pieces may take longer than others depending on the design and materials.  Expect a minimum of 4 weeks for the artwork to be created.

    6. Final Approval & Payment: I will send you photos of the completed artwork before our agreed upon delivery date. If you approve, the remaining balance will be due at this time.  You may request changes for an additional fee.

    7. Delivery: Once the final payment is received, I will package and ship the artwork (or schedule an in-person delivery if local).

    • I reserve the rights to share photos/videos of the artwork  on my website and social media.

    • I reserve the right to refuse any commission, and will do so for any request that is unreasonable, inappropriate, or far outside my area of expertise/interest.
